The Philosophy of Time Cycles
The great philosophical traditions of world history share one essential teaching in common: the Universe emerges as the product of a divine meditation process taking place within the mind of God. The world we inhabit exists within the context of this grand cosmic meditation, as do we. The entire operation is governed by a set of immutable laws and is moving toward a predetermined conclusion: the achievement of universal enlightenment, at which point the cosmic meditation is resolved, the Universe absorbs back into the substance of the Divine Mind, and God enters into a period of rest. Eventually, a new cycle of creation of begins, and the process repeats on a higher level than before.
The Universal Mind - the builder of the Universe - is eternally oscillating between two polarities: activity and rest; creation and dissolution; existence and non-existence. During periods of activity, galaxies, solar systems, and planets are created; during periods of rest, they disappear. The ancient Taoists called this eternal oscillation of reality the “mystic spiral of the Tao”.
The idea that the Universe is contemplated into existence by a Divine Mind helps us understand the meaning of Erwin Schrödinger’s famous quote: “The total number of minds in the universe is one. In fact, consciousness is a singularity phasing within all beings.” All minds are fashioned within One Mind and all experiences of consciousness are being had by one Universal Consciousness, whose presence is ubiquitous throughout the Universe.
Simply put, the world we inhabit is created as an ideation held within the mind of a Creator-God. It was fashioned it for a reason and purpose, which only the higher mind of the Creator-God knows in full. A Divine Plan is being worked out through the evolution of life on this planet, and as humans our job is to incrementally discover and fulfill this Plan, which we accomplish through the cultivation of wisdom and the pursuit of enlightenment.
While it may seem from our limited perspective that life is chaotic and random, in reality the opposite is true: the laws of Creation are universally operative; nothing is out of place; everything has meaning; and in the end the Divine Plan will be fulfilled. This is the central teaching of esoteric philosophy: the world is born from the ideation of a Divine Being, formed as thought patterns within the internal space of its mind. This Cosmic Mind has a plan and purpose for its creation; we are characters in a story that it is envisioning and our lives are being driven toward a destiny that only It knows in full.
Mankind has the ability to discover this destiny and participate in its fulfillment. In this way, we play an integral role in the realization of the Divine Plan. As human evolution progresses, the grand cosmic meditation we are a part of also progresses. We are instruments for its advancement, with our fate tied to its development.
The point when mankind attains its final evolutionary completion and the point when the Creator-God’s grand meditation cycle is fully resolved are one and the same. Once the creation cycle is complete, material creation is absorbed back into the substance of the Divine Mind. There then ensues a period of cosmic rest, before eventually a new cycle of creation will commence, resulting in the formation of a new world, a new humanity, and a new cycle of spiritual development.
Here we come to an important point, one that factors heavily into the topics we will be discussing in this book: human evolution is driven by time cycles, with one master cycle playing host to a complex interplay of subsidiary subcycles. The master cycle charts humanity's creation, development, and eventual absorption back into the Universal Mind. Within this master cycle, numerous lesser cycles are embedded, these marking the various stages of human evolution.
Each time cycle is structured according to a common archetypal template, with a beginning (alpha point), middle (midpoint), and end (omega point). The cycle begins at the alpha point and moves down toward the midpoint. This downward motion is known as involution. After the midpoint is reached, the cycle then swings upward, moving toward its final omega point. This upward motion is called evolution. To visualize this, picture a clock: involution involves time’s initial descent from 12:00 to 6:00, while evolution is time's ascent from 6:00 back toward 12:00.
The initial downward involutionary arch of the time cycle represents spirit moving into matter and encasing itself in material form. During this process, consciousness descends from a unified, spiritual condition and enters into a state of material fragmentation and isolation. This motion is counterbalanced by a subsequent upward evolutionary motion, which works to liberate consciousness from its confines in matter and bring it to a state of universal enlightenment. Another way of looking at this dynamic is that involution represents the One Self fragmenting its consciousness into the experience of many separate selves, while evolution represents these separate selves incrementally reuniting and harmonizing back together, thereby reestablishing the unity of the One Self.
In the process of the One Self moving its consciousness from a unified to diversified condition, It conceptualizes a diverse hierarchy of differentiated, individualized life forms. It then injects its consciousness into this ecosystem of life, providing each of the forms it has envisioned within it with an individualized experience of self-consciousness.
The life forms that the Creator conceptualizes and vivifies range from the simple to complex and extend from the physical to the metaphysical. At one end of the spectrum are simple atoms, molecules, and biological organisms; at the other end are great spiritual beings or gods, whose existence is entirely metaphysical. Mankind resides in the middle ground between these two extremes: we have bodies made from the gross matter of the Earth and souls comprised of the metaphysical substance of the gods. This duality gives mankind the capacity to experience the physical and metaphysical dimensions of reality equally: the Earth below and the heavens above.
During the initial involutionary wave of the human life cycle, the lower material aspects of human nature grow dominant. This process peaks during the cycles’ midpoint and then begins to reverse as its enters into the cycle’s evolutionary upswing phase. During the cycle's ascending evolutionary arch, the spiritual principle learns to gradually liberate itself from the “tomb” of matter it has become encased within. To achieve this liberation, mankind - both individually and collectively - must labor to perfect itself as an instrument of the Divine Plan. This was the goal of the great spiritual teachers of the past and of the illustrious Mystery School institutions they founded: to facilitate the soul's evolutionary growth process so that the human being can be matured into an enlightened agent of the Divine Plan.
The Kali Yuga: The Dark Age of Hindu Philosophy
The midpoint of a time cycle is reached at the culmination of its initial downward involutionary motion (in other words, when the hands of the clock have moved from 12:00 to 6:00). When this midpoint is reached, matter’s entropic pull against spirit is most strongly felt and the consciousness of the Creator-God falls most heavily asleep within the material forms it has fashioned. During these periods, the illusion of diversity dominates over the reality of unity and mankind undergoes the experience of a “dark age.”
Each time cycle features its own version of a dark age. It comes as a natural and inevitable phase of the creation process, marking the point when the involutionary process culminates and the evolutionary arch begins. Religious myths from around the world associate the coming of a dark age with the occurrence of an Armageddon or Apocalypse - a time of great trials and tribulations, when the forces of good and evil within the human soul must do battle in an existential showdown. This is also a period when great spiritual truths are revealed, which contribute to the breakdown of old structures and liberate the indwelling spirit to begin its evolutionary ascension toward enlightenment.
At the appropriate time, the world’s master cycle undergoes one great dark age. Likewise, each subcycle within it also has a dark age. According to the teachings of esoteric philosophy, the central dark age of Earth’s master cycle was experienced long ago. Mankind has already lived through it and progressed beyond it; we are now on the evolutionary upswing arch of the master cycle. However, while the master cycle is moving in a gradual upward, ascending motion, for the past several millennia mankind has been developing within a subcycle that has moved into its “dark age” phase.
The Brahmins of ancient India termed our present dark age the “Kali Yuga”, naming it after a demonic entity from the Hindu mythological system who personifies conflict and strife, deceit and corruption, and moral and spiritual decay. By studying the teachings of Hindu philosophy concerning the Kali Yuga, we can discover what its prominent themes entail and how long its duration is expected to be.
According to the prophesies of the Hindu Brahmins - the philosopher-priests of ancient India - during the Kali Yuga mankind sinks into a period of relative spiritual decline, falling prey to the evil potentials latent within itself. During this period, empires rise and fall, corruption erodes the social order, and destructive compulsions like materialism, ignorance, and greed become endemic. In short, the Kali Yuga is an age of spiritual darkness, when humanity becomes increasingly disconnected from its spiritual core and loses itself within the material vacuousness of earthly existence.
The suffering that mankind endures during the Kali Yuga is not arbitrary; rather, the ordeals it experiences during this dark age are highly symbolic and intended to be instructive, informing us where our shortcomings are and what aspects of ourselves we need to develop to progress to the next phase of our evolutionary journey. In this way, the Kali Yuga comes not as a divine injustice but rather as a necessary and inevitable stage in humanity’s growth journey. The struggle, strife, and despair we encounter during this period is part of a necessary “bottoming out” phase that must be faced and overcome before humanity’s ascent to a new and higher stage of existence can be achieved.
The philosophers of ancient India were not the only ones who discussed the existence of this dark age; other traditions also had their own names and descriptions of it. For example, the Greek philosopher Plato discussed the existence of an Age of Iron, which equates almost precisely with the Hindu concept of the Kali Yuga.
Describing Plato’s teachings about this dark age, Manly Hall explains that "the world is subject to alternating periods of fertility and sterility: fertility is to be understood as an abundance of life, so that all growth is accelerated; sterility, by contrast, infers a privation of the life principle. A period of fertility is called a golden age, and during such a time arts, philosophies, sciences, and religions flourish, and men live together in a state of concord. After a golden age, the spiritual energies decline, and the world passes into the age of silver, from there into an age of bronze, falling finally into an age of iron, which is the lowest place in the cycle of fertility.”
Like Plato's Age of Iron, the Kali Yuga comes at the nadir phase of a larger cosmic cycle, where it is preceded by three higher stages. During this dark age, the entropic pull of matter is at its strongest and the consciousness-liberating impulse of spirit at its weakest. Consequently, “the destructive tendencies gain domination and men devote their lives to the gratification of selfishness and ambition. Thus, the least degree of fertility produces the greatest degree of sterility and all noble institutions languish.”
The Kali Yuga’s Historical Timeline
In the Hindu tradition, there is considerable controversy about how to date the beginning, duration, and endpoint of the Kali Yuga. One widespread interpretation is that it began in 3102 BC and is set to last for a staggering 432,00 years. Critics point out that this number is vastly overinflated, however, and that the Kali Yuga’s true duration is much shorter - between five and six thousand years, thus falling within the timeframe of recorded history. Yuga scholar Bibhu Dev Misra, in his recent book Yuga Shift, makes a strong case that the exact duration of the Kali Yuga is 5,700 years, with its start date coming in 3676 BC and its end date slated for 2025 AD (!). Misra’s timeline, which is depicted in the graphic shared at the heading of this essay, makes sense to me for three reasons:
First, in Misra’s model, the Kali Yuga’s start date (~3600 BC) aligns with the onset of the Bronze Age, when a series of large advanced civilizations arose throughout Eurasia. The stories of the rise and fall of these states feature persistent themes that align with the Kali Yuga’s archetypal characteristics, including: a decline in the wisdom of priesthoods; an increase in the imperial ambitions of monarchies; the idolatrous worship of rulers; the gradual erosion of moral values and social cohesion; and the overuse of environmental resources, leading to desperate expansionism and inevitable social collapse.
Second, the midpoint of the Kali Yuga, as calculated in Misra's model, arose between 976 and 676 BC. This is another important historical period, marking the final collapse of the Bronze Age civilizations at one end and the onset of a new phase of human civilization - the Axial Age - at the other. By 900 BC, every advanced civilization in Eurasia had fallen into collapse and a period of prolonged period of cultural regression, social fragmentation, and economic hardship ensued. Finally, after several centuries of darkness, beginning around 600 BC, civilization began to rebound and a new era began: the Axial Age. During this age, which lasted approximately 1,000 years, advanced states and empires reappeared, high culture was reestablished, trans-Eurasian trade restarted, and literacy and education returned. The major downside of this era was that featured a string of extractive expansionist empires ruled over by powerful oligarchical dynasties. These empires resurrected the evils that beset the Bronze Age civilization, amplifying their trends of economic secularization, caste differentiation, and moral decline into even more extreme forms, with wars, corruption, usury, and decadence becoming endemic problems. These dynamics are what brought about the final destruction of the Roman Empire, whose collapse marked the end of the Axial Age.
Third, Misra’s timetable for the ending of the Kali Yuga is calculated to be taking place at the present moment we are now living through. Just consider: if the Kali subcycle began in 3676 BC and is slated to last 5,700 years, this implies that its end date must be coming sometime around 2025 AD. When we step back and consider the state of the world at present, it would seem that this date is correct: given the major existential crises, opportunities, and transformation that are currently taking place in the world, it makes sense that a long-building dark age is reaching its culmination point, with mankind witnessing the death of an old way of life and preparing for the transition into a new phase of evolutionary development.
It’s particularly fitting that the Kali Yuga should be scheduled to come to a final end at the precise moment that the world is being prepared to undergo a major transition from nation-states to global government. Other significant trends occurring today that align with this correlation include: the emergence of AI and robotics technologies; the global interconnection of peoples and cultures through the internet; the emergence of technocracy as a new economic paradigm; the rise of a renewed interest in Atlantis and the mysteries of human history; and the slow-drip revelation of the UFO mystery, which implies the possibility of world-altering breakthroughs in science and technology.
Accompanying these trends is the outbreak of a series of acute geopolitical, psychological, sociocultural, economic, and environmental crises, which have already brought despair and death to millions and which feature strong “Armageddon” motifs in their symptomatology. Among these include: the COVID disaster; the global debt pyramid; the Palestinian holocaust; the American fentanyl, homelessness, and immigration crises; the Great Reset agenda; and more.
In addition to these man-made crises, there is the strong possibility that a major climatic or geophysical event may occur in the near future, caused either by a meteor strike, a shift in the planet’s magnetic poles, a solar event of some kind, volcanic eruptions, or environmental collapse. The existential threat posed by these natural events feature similar Apocalyptic motifs as the aforementioned social, political, and economic problems we are causing ourselves. In both cases, a common archetype is manifesting - one tied to the world’s transition out of the Kali Yuga.
When we step back and compare the challenges and opportunities that mankind is facing in present moment with the archetypal themes of the Kali Yuga, we discover an unassailable thematic overlap. This is something everyone should be aware of: the present world crisis is arising as the consequence of a grand cosmic cycle moving through a transition period, with one age of human development coming to an end and a new age set to begin.
Humanity is moving out of one stage of a larger cosmic cycle - the Iron Age or Kali Yuga - and ascending incrementally into a new one - the Bronze Age or Dwapara Yuga. As the Kali Yuga approaches its grand finale, the karmic credits and debits that mankind has built up over its 5,700-year timeframe are now surfacing with great potency. This is the dynamic driving the outpouring of existential crises facing mankind today: these crises are symptoms of an underlying transformation taking place, with accumulated karma from the past resurfacing in anticipation of the great transitions ahead.
Before we can pass out of the Kali Yuga and into the new and higher age that awaits, we must first successfully address the underlying karmic causes of the crises now confronting us, assimilating the lessons they have to teach and using the wisdom we gain by overcoming them to propel our growth forward into a new stage of evolutionary development.
One example of a karmic pattern that has developed incrementally over the course of the Kali Yuga’s 5,700-year duration and which is now coming to a head today involves the twin pillars of capitalism and oligarchy. The foundations for both institutions were set during the Axial Age - the period marking the midpoint of the Kali Yuga subcycle. Over subsequent millennia, they have become increasingly dominant aspects of civilization - a motion that has reached it apogee with the rise of the American Empire. Today - as the Kali Yuga approaches its grand finale - both institutions sit on the threshold of a great transition, with capitalism and oligarchy on the cusp of being absorbed into the wave of new technocratic governance initiatives that are now beginning to be rolled out.
Another example of a karmic pattern that has built up over the course of the Kali Yuga and which is now reaching a breaking point involves the secularization of human culture. During the Bronze Age, kings, emperors, and pharaohs began taking the place of gods as the primary object of religious worship. Then, during the Axial Age - the cycle’s midpoint - private financial wealth rose to become the new object of worship for the ruling elite. Today, as the Kali Yuga reaches its end, this trend has reached its extreme, with the government run almost entirely by oligarchical interests and the logic of capitalism dominating nearly every aspect of human life.
As we discover, the archetypal themes associated with the world’s transition out of the Kali Yuga can now be seen erupting around the globe in numerous different forms, with the American Empire serving as ground zero for this karmic upwelling. In this book, I demonstrate how the fate of America’s global empire is intimately intertwined with the final climax of this dark age and predict that its imminent death will coincide with the rebirth of civilization into a new era of global government.
In religious terms, the world is moving into an Armageddon-like period of existential reckoning: a “cosmic baptism” designed to force mankind to address the accumulated karma of the past and overcome the limitations and barriers to growth this unredeemed karmic baggage imposes upon it.
As Manly P. Hall argues in his book The Secret Destiny of America, the United States is the epicenter of this showdown, with the forces of resistance seeking to impede human growth concentrated here, as well as the forces of progress, which seek to use America as a vehicle to progress the world into a radically new globalized era.
Elaborating on the archetypal themes involved with the phoenix-like death-rebirth process that mankind is now entering into - and which America is now driving - Manly P. Hall writes that “humanity is now approaching the end of an Age of Iron. Revulsion mechanisms are setting in and humanity is becoming weary with the sterility of its conditions.” In time, this “revolt against the limitations of materialism will result in the re-establishment of the golden age, that blessed time when the gods walk with men.”
Hall expects that the world’s transition from a condition of sterility to one of fertility will be “supported by an increase of natural vitality,” which will move into human life, enlivening it and guiding it "toward a new birth in wisdom and truth.” This “new birth" is mankind’s reward for successfully overcoming the trials, tribulations, and initiations of the Kali Yuga, which have included “war, crime, and poverty - all of which must be experienced to the fullest before the mind will reject them in favor of a simpler and more mature course of action.”
America is the central arena in which this collective transformation process is fated to play out, with the upward pull of progress and the downward push of entropy both manifesting in potent form within the structure of its empire. For this reason, America is the heartland where the collective Fight with the Shadow must be won and civilization’s rebirth into a new era of existence initiated.
The Coming World Nation
In a series of books, articles, and lectures published in the mid-20th century, American philosopher Manly P. Hall presented the idea that America has a "secret destiny”, with its fate as a nation is intimately tied to the fate of the world in the present era. The research I present in this book’s twelve chapters supports Hall's thesis, showing how the rise and fall of the American Empire aligns with the ending of the Kali Yuga and the rebirth of civilization into a new global era. This material is organized across three sections:
The book's first section, comprised of four chapters, examines the origin story of the American Empire, focusing in particular on the role that an oligarchical “Deep State” syndicate played in catalyzing America’s turn toward empire during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This Deep State apparatus was originally built atop the private financial wealth of an elite capitalist oligarchy. In the decades since its initial formation, it grew in scope and influence and has since come to control nearly every aspect of American society, from government and economics to culture and science. Its headquarters are within US military-industrial complex, which it steers to drive the global expansion of the American Empire. The 20th-century’s two world wars were integral to the advancement of its plan, as was the subsequent Cold War, which I investigate in greater detail in section three.
The book's second section, also comprised of four chapters, investigates the largely unknown story of technocracy, an energy-based model of economic and political organization that is quietly being maneuvered into place as the eventual replacement for capitalism. As the American Empire consolidated its power globally during the mid-to-late 20th-century, a hidden element within the US National Security State began working to develop a new economic model to replace capitalism, one based on science and technology rather than money and markets. Since the turn of the 21st-century, a silent revolution into technocracy has begun to occur, with the foundations for a new economic paradigm quietly being maneuvered into place under the surface of the “International Rules-Based Order” that America utilizes to manage its empire. This shift into technocracy is coinciding with another silent revolution: the transition into global government, with both movements closely connected together. In the coming years, this ongoing transition from capitalism into technocracy will continue to advance, until at last technocracy displaces capitalism entirely and is installed as the new economic operating system for the coming World Nation.
A world technocratic government? No thank you. We already had a taste of that and it was a disaster of epic proportions. Huge depopulation event. THAT is the globalists’ agenda.
A “golden age” when “gods” walked among us? I’ll take a pass on that as well. The “gods” were lustful, vicious, spiteful, warmongering, jealous and mean. They were not trying to enlighten humanity. They were trying to enslave humanity.
I will have to be part of the resistance.
